Please see below for a rough guide of how many hours it would take to get to each place, locks and pubs on route.

NARROWBOAT TIMES FROM BATH TO DEVIZES: (Please note this is leaving from our Sydney Wharf Bath base).

Bathhampton – 45mins from our base in Bath.

Claverton – 1 hour and a half from our base in Bath.

Dundas aqueduct – 2 ½ hours from our base in Bath.

Avoncliff/ cross guns – 3 ½ hours from our base in Bath.

Bradford on Avon – 4 – 4 ½ hours from our base in Bath.

Trowbridge – 5 ½ hours from our base in Bath.

Semington/ somerset arms – 6 ½ hours from our base in Bath.

Seend/ The barge – 8 hours from our base in Bath.

Sells green/ the three magpies – 10 hours from our base in Bath.

Foxhangers marina – 11 hours from our base in Bath.

Caenhill flight – 20 mins to 30 mins past foxhangers. (a days work doing the flight)

Devizes (top of the flight)

Pewsey – 21 hours (one way). You could do it in a week (7 days). 5 x 8 hours days. It is 42 hours return.

NARROWBOAT ROUGH GUIDE OF HOW FAR YOU COULD GET EACH NIGHT GOING FROM BATH TOWARDS DEVIZES:

1 night – Bathhampton or Crossguns at Avoncliff.

1 night – OR Bradford on avon.

2 nights – Semington. Maybe slightly further.

3 nights – Seand. (Would take a couple days to get to Seand)

In 4 days (Mon – Fri S/B) – 22 hr round trip to Foxhangers.

5 nights – just before the Caenhill flight.

A week would be Pewsey. (Pewsey and back – 5 x 8 hour days)

(Please note we do not offer 1 night or 2 night Short Breaks, this just offers a rough idea of where you may get to on your first and second night)

(Our short breaks are Mon-Fri OR Fri-Mon and Our week breaks are Mon-Mon OR Fri-Fri)

LOCKS:

1 lock at Bradford

2 locks at Semington

5 locks at Seand (spaced out)

That’s it until you get to bottom of caenhill flight. (29 locks)

No more locks until you reach pewsey.

Next locks are at Wooton rivers.

PUBS ON ROUTE TOWARDS DEVIZES FROM OUR BASE IN BATH:

The George pub at Bathhampton and The Bathhampton Mill at Bathhampton.

The Angelfish Cafe at Dundas.

The Crossguns at Avoncliff.

The Canal tavern, The Lock inn, Timbrells Yard, Ravello, The Weaving shed, Il Ponte Ristorante Italiano, Pizzeria Amici, Thai Barn, the Barge etc in Bradford on Avon.

Then the Boathouse at Widbrook, Bradford on Avon.

The barge at Seend.

The three Magpies at Sells Green .

No other pubs until The Caen hill flight.
