Dayboat Experience (From our Brassknocker Base, just outside of Bath):

AT 24ft, this is one of our smallest narrowboats in our fleet that is available for half-day or full-day hire. This small boat is ideal for the first time to gently introduce you to the pleasures of canal boating. The boat has been built and designed with your comfort and safety in mind. This boat can only take up to six people. You'll find the boat is fully equipped with a kitchen, lounge and toilet.

Inside there's a kitchen to entertain from. It has a fridge, 2 ring hob and if you fancy cooking utensils, crockery (plates, bowls, mugs and glasses) and a kettle to make a cup of tea. There is also a usb socket to keep your phone or tablet charged. ( No lead provided )

Don’t worry about steering it's easy; you will be given full instruction and handling tuition on arrival. On the way out of the Somerset Coal Canal , we will escort you onboard before handing over to you at the Dundas aqueduct.

The boat hire includes diesel, gas and water. Please note a pre-authorisation deposit is required using a valid debit / credit card.

Where to Stop, Eat, and Explore on Your Journey:

The boat currently operates from our Brassknocker base where there is a park & display nearby and The Angelfish Restaurant should you want any last minute refreshments, ice creams or food. On a full day hire, there is ample time to travel across both aqueducts travelling in an easterly direction, stopping at either Avoncliff or Bradford on Avon where there are places to visit and eat. Please note, you must leave at least 2.5 / 3 hours time for you to travel back to the base. Alternatively, you may wish to travel in a westerly direction towards Bath & Bathhampton where you will find cafe / pubs to stop for lunch.

Hire times:

We do have different hire time options available in the spring, summer & early autumn, light permitting. During the winter months and with an ice free canal, the boats are available for shorter periods ( as the light starts to fade from 3 p.m. )

Please NOTE: We will allocate a time slot to you according to our availability and we will always suggest the first 2 time slots.

April – September (7.5 hours)

• 9:30 AM – 5:00 PM
• 10:00 AM – 5:30 PM
• 10:30 AM – 6:00 PM (No later) (This time slot is only offered occasionally to you by us if our first 2 slots have been booked)

October 1st – 14th (6.5 hours)

• 10:00 AM – 4:30 PM (No later)

October 15th – 31st (5.5 hours)

• 9:30 AM – 3:00 PM
• 10:00 AM – 3:30 PM
• 10:30 AM – 4:00 PM (No later)

November – March (5 hours)

  Important: If the boat is returned later than your designated time slot, we reserve the right to charge a late fee of up to £100.

  Additionally, we kindly ask that the boat is returned in the same condition in which you found it, with no washing up left behind and removing all rubbish.
